Step 1 · Open the wizard

Find the Instagram card under Connection Manager.

On the web, head to Analytics. The Connection Manager lists Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Twitter as separate cards. Each card shows a status pill — Not Connected, Connected, Token Expired, or Connection Error — and a button to match.

On mobile, the same Connection Manager lives inside the Analytics screen as a collapsible card with a dark gradient header. Expand it and you'll see the same four platforms.

Click Connect on the Instagram card. The wizard opens — a four-step modal on web, a full-screen modal on mobile.

Before you connect

Three confirmations. Same on web. Same on mobile.

Both wizards open with the exact same three-checkbox gate, copied here verbatim from the source so you know what you're ticking:

  1. Instagram Professional Account“Your Instagram must be a Creator or Business account (not a personal account).”
  2. Facebook Page“You have a Facebook Page that you admin (not just like/follow).”
  3. Instagram Linked to Facebook Page“Your Instagram Professional account is linked to your Facebook Page.”

That's the whole list. There's no follower minimum, no niche restriction, no plan check — just these three boxes. The wizard ships two help links right below them: one for switching to Professional, one for linking Instagram to a Facebook Page.

Professional means Creator OR Business. The wizard's first checkbox uses the umbrella term "Professional Account" and explicitly accepts both Creator and Business sub-types. Personal accounts are the only ones excluded.
Setup A · Inside Instagram

Switch your Instagram to a Professional account.

Inflira's first checkbox — “Instagram Professional Account” — is satisfied the moment your Instagram is either a Creator or Business account. Personal accounts can't connect, full stop. The switch is free, reversible, and Meta documents two paths: one in the mobile app, one on instagram.com. Both end at the same place.

From the Instagram mobile app — the steps quoted verbatim from Meta's help centre:

  1. Tap Profile or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
  2. Tap More to go to your Settings and activity.
  3. Below For professionals, tap Account type and tools.
  4. Select Switch to professional account.
  5. Select your category. You can choose a category that best describes what you do.
  6. Tap Switch to professional account (yes, again — this second tap is the one Meta's help page calls out).
  7. To set up a creator account, choose Creator. To set up a business account, choose Business.
  8. Tap Next.
  9. (Creator only) Complete the optional profile-setup steps, or tap X on the top-right to skip back to your profile.
  10. Add contact details for your business and tap Next — or tap Don't use my contact info to skip.
  11. To connect to an existing Facebook Page now, tap Log in to Facebook. To do it later, tap Skip. (You can do it later from Setup C.)

From instagram.com — Meta documents a parallel web flow; the order of category and Creator/Business is reversed:

  1. Click More, then select Settings.
  2. Below For professionals, select Account type and tools.
  3. Click Switch to professional account.
  4. To set up a creator account, choose Creator. To set up a business account, choose Business.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Select your category.
  7. Click Done. Confirm by clicking Continue.
  8. Add contact details and click Save, or click Don't use my contact info.
  9. Click Done to return to your profile.

That's the whole switch. You now have access to the Professional dashboard with insights, ad tools and monetisation eligibility — and Inflira's first prerequisite checkbox is satisfied.

The category you pick does NOT decide Creator vs Business.Meta is explicit on this — the category step asks what you do, and the Creator-vs-Business choice happens on a separate screen straight after. Both sub-types count as Professional and both work with Inflira's wizard. If your account is private, switching to Professional makes it public and any pending follow requests are auto-accepted.
Setup B · Inside Facebook

Create a Facebook Page (skip if you already admin one).

Inflira's second checkbox — “Facebook Page” — needs a Page that you admin (not just like or follow). If you already manage a Page for your brand or personal handle, skip this scene. If not, create one. Both Facebook surfaces let you do this.

On the Facebook mobile app:

  1. Open the Facebook app and tap the menu icon (☰).
  2. Tap Pages.
  3. Tap Create (some app versions show Create New Page).
  4. Enter a Page name.
  5. Pick a Category that describes the Page (Local Business, Brand, Community, etc.).
  6. Add a Bio / Description — one or two sentences about the Page.
  7. Tap Create Page.

On facebook.com (desktop):

  1. Sign in to facebook.com. In the left sidebar of your home feed, click Pages (or go straight to facebook.com/pages/creation).
  2. Click + Create new Page.
  3. Fill in Page name, Category (up to three) and Bio.
  4. Click Create Page.
  5. Add a profile picture and cover photo (optional).

Either way, the Page exists immediately and you become its admin — which is exactly what Inflira's wizard checks for in step 3.

You need a personal Facebook account first.A Facebook Page is attached to a personal Facebook profile but doesn't expose it publicly. If you don't have a personal account yet, create one at facebook.com — that's a separate, free signup that takes about a minute.
Step 1 · Requirements

Confirm the prerequisites and review the scopes.

Below the requirements checklist, the wizard shows the exact OAuth scopes it's about to ask Meta for. These are the same three on web and mobile:

  • instagram_basic — “Access your Instagram profile (username, bio, followers count) and media posts.”
  • instagram_manage_insights — “Access your Instagram analytics (reach, impressions, engagement, audience demographics).”
  • pages_show_list — “View the list of Facebook Pages you manage to find which Page is linked to your Instagram account.”

When all three boxes are ticked, the primary button reads Connect Instagram. Click it. If you try to advance with even one box unchecked, the wizard pops a red panel listing what's missing and stays put.

Inflira will never post on your behalf. The three scopes below cover read-only profile metadata, read-only insights, and a list of Pages you manage. There is no publishing scope, no DM scope, no comment scope.
Step 2 · Connect

Approve Inflira inside Meta. Then come back.

On web, Inflira spawns a popup at window.open(authUrl, 'instagram-auth', 'width=600,height=700'). You log into Facebook (if you aren't already), pick the Page connected to your Instagram, and grant the three scopes. Meta posts a message back to Inflira and the popup closes.

On mobile, it's your real browser, not an in-app webview. When you're done, Meta redirects to inflira://oauth/instagram and the OS hands the code back to the app — that's the universal link / deep link handshake. The wizard shows a four-line list of what to do in the browser:

  1. Log in to Facebook if prompted
  2. Select the Facebook Page linked to your Instagram
  3. Grant the requested permissions
  4. You'll be redirected back to the app automatically

If something goes sideways — popup blocked, deep link not resolved, you closed the browser too early — both surfaces show a Reopen button to start the OAuth window over.

Web vs mobile: where Meta opens. On web, Meta opens in a 600×700 popup window — if you have a popup blocker, allow inflira.com. On mobile, Meta opens in your default browser; the wizard sits on the "Waiting for Authorization" screen until a deep link bounces you back into the app.
Step 3 · Select Page

Inflira pulls your Pages and asks which one is the one.

After the OAuth code lands, Inflira calls Meta's Graph API and lists every Page you admin that has a Professional Instagram account attached. The web wizard shows each Page with its name, page ID, and an avatar + handle + follower / post count for the linked Instagram. The mobile wizard shows the Page name with a smaller @username badge underneath.

Pick one. The button changes to Connect Selected Page on web and Complete Connection on mobile. Click it. Inflira completes the connection on the backend, stores the long-lived token (60 days, auto-refreshed before expiry) and moves you to the final step.

No Pages? You picked the wrong Facebook account. If the wizard shows "No Facebook Pages with linked Instagram Professional accounts found", you logged into a Facebook account that doesn't admin the Page tied to your Instagram. Hit Start Over and sign in with the right one.
Step 4 · Done

Token saved, sync running, you're live.

Both wizards animate a progress bar to 100% as the first sync fires, then flip to a success state. Web spells out the connection details in a list — long-lived token, the Facebook Page you chose, and the granted scopes (instagram_basic, instagram_manage_insights, pages_show_list). Mobile shows the connected handle + display name and a two-line “What's Next?” card.

Web's final button is View Instagram Analytics and drops you straight into the analytics dashboard. Mobile's says Done and closes the modal back into the Analytics tab.

From here on out, syncs run in the background — daily metrics pull, audience refresh, content detection — without you doing anything. If the token ever drifts into expired state, the Connection Manager card shows a Refresh Token button next to Disconnect.
